Ignite Birmingham

This year we are concentrating on growing the ignite community and this has proved to an interesting challenge. Due to various factors we moving the date to provide the best event we can. We don’t want to waste our audiences time. So we are moving the date to July 24th due to various feedback from interested parties.

That being said we would love your help! Here are a few initiatives we could use help with.

1) Outreach. As I stated before we are trying to reach an event bigger audience to get more potential speakers. So if you know of groups we should reach out too let us know. Also if you know of someone who would be a good speaker let us know or encourage them to submit a talk.

2) Branding. We are looking for help with updating the ignitebham brand. This is primarily a web redesign to help make the site more useful to the community. If anyone is interested in helping let us know.

Got a burning idea that you want to share with Birminghm? Well, we’d like to help you with that! We’re really excited to announce that you can join us on March 28, 2013, for Ignite Birmingham #9 held at the The Edge of Chaos!

Talk proposals for Ignite Birmingham #9 are already open! We’re looking for speakers and we’d love to hear from you. The submission deadline is 11:59PM on March 11, 2013, so submit your idea today!

Over the next 2 months we will strive to release at least 1 video a week from our 7th and 8th events. This is partially due to having issues with getting the video edited from our last events and also due to wanting to drum up interest in upcoming events. Funny how that works out More than likely we will release around 2 videos a week.

Ignite Birmingham is an unusual event and can be tough to explain to people who have never been. Now that we are relaunching the site we are going to give explaining it a try!

What is Ignite Birmingham?

Ignite Birmingham is the chance for regular people to get on stage and in five minutes share the passion. It could be a great idea they are passionate about or just what makes their lives extraordinary – what project do you obsess over? What gets your heart racing, and makes you speak a bit faster? What widens your eyes? What about you is special that nobody else knows?

It is the chance for people to inspire not just the audience but the Birmingham area community by sharing the things most meaningful to them.

What’s Ignite Birmingham about?

Ignite Birmingham is about community. It’s about connecting people from all walks of life together to exchange ideas and thoughts, to enlighten each other, and to find out something they never knew existed in Birmingham before.

Every single event you are exposed to many people that you’ve probably never heard of, much less met before in your entire life, and each one of them is bringing their unique experiences, ideas, and passions. And hopefully some of you got together to make a difference.

How can you Ignite Birmingham?

You can get involved by submitting your own idea for a talk. Don’t get caught up wondering if your idea is worth sharing, or if you think people may not be interested. If you are genuinely, honestly, sincerely passionate about it – we want to hear it!

And if you live hearing new ideas filled with passion, we hope to see you at the next Ignite Birmingham!
